The sensational Kingdom Choir landed at our iconic St David’s hall in Cardiff this week and what an incredible landing it was! This remarkable choir, were sadly performing their final show of their current tour, which I was honoured to witness, but I’m sure they’ll be back with another phenomenal production!

THE KINGDOM CHOIR PERFORMING AT ST DAVIDS HALL CARDIFF

The Kingdom choir opened with a colourful and soulful version of the lord’s prayer, which immediately invigorated my senses. I felt like I had been transported to another place, what I would call a “happy place”.

The night became one big incredible celebration of positivity and really had myself, along with the whole audience engaged in their performance. Their vocals along with their worldly presence, really empowered me and the other excited attendees. We were treated with an incredible version of “Your the Voice” originally sang by John Farnham, which was sang by Stacey Skeete and Wayne Hernandez who may I add have incredible vocal skills. They were accompanied by the wonderful “Harris Peckham Academy Choir”, who were outstanding also. Skeete had the voice of an angel and somewhat reminded me of the extraordinary talented, late Whitney Houston.

KAREN GIBSON GOSPEL CHOIR CONDUCTOR

The truly inspiring Karen Gibson leads the Kingdom Choir and what an inspirational leader she is! Gibson worked tirelessly to ensure that every song sang was on point and delivered which huge impact. Gibson also compared most of the evening and made some wonderful comments about reaching that higher place, along with empowering others as well as ourselves. The choir also performed a beautiful song called“Fix you”, which really made a huge impact on the audience, including myself.

KAREN GIBSON

Gibson was also keen to tell us how we should be empowering the youth of today and not, in her own words “looking for the grime” but to actually start looking for the gold. I have never heard an audiences response be so engaging, I think everyone in St David’s hall stated “hear, hear”, I for one certainly did.

ELAINE SIMPSON STRATEGIC DIRECTOR & LEADERSHIP TEAM

Another highlight for me was an extremely colourful performance from The Kingdom Choir, which included a song called “Hallelujah”. The audience was encouraged to get up on their feet and join in with this carnival feel performance. The whole auditorium did actually get up on their feet and started waving their coats and even scarfs, it was a moment I’ll always truly cherish and never forget! Taking the lead vocal was the dazzling and incredibly talented Elaine Simpson, who was a larger than life character and really took us all on, what felt like a trip of a lifetime, to a Caribbean carnival.

CLINTON JOHN & KEMI BRAMWELL PERFORMING SOMETHING INSIDE SO STRONG

Clinton John and Kemi Bramwell were so soulful and delivered this version of Labi Siffre’s “something inside so strong” with real passion and with the pairing vocals from the choir, delivered a mesmerising performance. Kemi hit one of the notes immensely well and had the audience in complete awe of her vocal accomplishments. All of the vocalists pictured here were also unbelievably talented.

TYRONE SINCLAIR LEADERSHIP TEAM

The wonderfully talented Tyrone Sinclair was a breathe of fresh air and really added a sense of ‘coolness’ to the whole production, with his wonderful dance moves and smooth vocals.

WAYNE ELLINGTON PERFORMING STAND BY ME AT ST DAVID’S HALL

Another memorable performance was when The Kingdom Choir sang, the iconic Ben E. King song “Stand By Me”. The immensely talented Wayne Ellington took the lead vocal here and delivered a spectacular performance, along with the again sensational vocals of the whole choir. I could feel the hairs stand up on my whole body. You would have most likely seen them perform this, at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle). Which was watched by over 2 billion people worldwide!

In conclusion this production was superb from start to finish. It was not just a music concert, it was a celebration of life and diversity, which I loved. I can not express how overjoyed I was upon leaving the venue and felt like I had been completely invigorated and inspired by the Kingdom Choir. This royal wedding singing choir, delivered what I feel was one of the best music concerts I had ever seen and I am thrilled to announce that I am awarding them my first ever 7 star review, as they were simply magnificent! I would like to commend the whole choir, musicians and production team on such a superb concert and I cannot wait for them to possibly return some day. Until the next time Kingdom Choir, God bless you all!
