Winner of Best Drama at BAFTA Cymru, thrilling bilingual crime drama Bang is the story of a brother, a sister and a gun.
The eight-part series begins with PCs Gina Jenkins and Luke Lloyd who discover the body of local businessman Stevie Rose in the marina. A murder investigation is launched and Gina is keen for the opportunity to work her way up into CID, but she finds her progress is hampered by Chief Inspector Layla Davies.
Gina’s brother Sam is finding life hard. He lives with his grandmother and he’s very worried about her deteriorating health. He works all the hours he can, but never has enough money. When he starts getting eyed up by his new neighbour’s girlfriend, Sam finds himself being dragged into a dangerous situation that will transform his life.
BBC Cymru Wales Head of Commissioning Nick Andrews said:
“Full of drama and pace, Bangwill have you on the edge of your seat. It’s another of the phenomenal Welsh dramas making an impact, and is already highly acclaimed.
“As well as having a gripping storyline and fast-paced dialogue, Bangshowcases the powerful industrial landscape of the steelmaking communities of south Wales. After the BBC’s documentary on the annual Taibach pantomime Balls of Steel, then the furore around Banksy’s visit, Port Talbot is clearly at ease in the limelight.”
