The ‘Bodyguard The Musical’ landed at the ‘Wales Millennium Centre’ Cardiff last night and what a STAGGERING landing it was!

THE ORIGINAL ‘THE BODYGUARD’ FILM POSTER

Based on the iconic hit 90s film ‘The bodyguard’, starring the late ‘Whitney Houston’ and Hollywood legend ‘Kevin Costner’, the film has been transitioned to the stage and given a contemporary edge to it.

ALEXANDRA BURKE STARRING IN THE BODYGUARD THE MUSICAL

The opening scene, sees ‘Marron’ performing ‘Houston’s’ uptempo pop/rock dance number, ‘Queen of the Night’, which with the use of incredible strobe lighting and fire, had us feeling like we were at a sell-out concert, at Wales’ famous ‘Principality Stadium’ !

Benoît Maréchal

The role of ‘Frank Farmer’ is played by French actor ‘Benoît Maréchal’, who delivered a authoritative yet heartwarming performance, along with showcasing his incredible acting skills, but not so incredible singing skills, which are displayed in a hilarious karaoke scene, involving ‘Burke’ and himself.

ALEXANDRA BURKE

Alexandra Burke plays the leading role of ‘Rachel Marron’ and left the audience astounded with her sensational vocal and acting talents. ‘Burke’ conveyed a energetic yet emotional performance and beautfully illustrated that sensational voice of her’s. Burke’s performance of ‘I Will Always Love You’ was breathtaking and with the use of incredible special effects and stage props, it was truly overwhelming.

ROSIE CAVA-BEALE

Playing the role of Marron’s sister ‘Nicki Marron’ is ‘Rosie Cava-Beale’, who really impressed us with her outstanding voice and acting artistry and has only recently come straight out of drama school, into the world of West End theatre. ‘Cava-Beale’ duetted with ‘Burke’ for some of ‘Houston’s’ hit songs and performed a wonderful rendition of ‘Saving All My Love For You’.

LEMAR BUCKNOR JR.

The role of ‘Marron’s’ son ‘Fletcher’ was played by ‘Lemar Bucknor JR. , who delivered a heartwarming and lively performance. The iconic log cabin scene, from the hit movie ‘The Bodyguard’, where ‘Rachel’, Nicki’ and ‘Fletcher’ sing ‘Jesus Loves Me’, really touched our hearts and many of the audience shedded a tear. We are sure he has an incredible career ahead of him.

PHIL ATKINSON

Playing the role of the Stalker is ‘Phil Atkinson’, who previously appeared as the Pharaoh, in hit west end show ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat’, along with having many TV appearances. ‘Atkinson’ gave a solid and robust performance and really got some of the audience members ‘hot under the collar’ with his incredible physique.
