The iconic St David’s shopping centre hosted its 2019 #BigNightOut and what a great success it was! The night was a celebration of all things retail and really gave something back, to the thousands of customers that visit the centre weekly. The centre is home to over 150 shops, restaurants and cafes! And is a pinnacle in Cardiff city Center.
A popular attraction at the event was the colourful ‘Balloon Wall’, which gave customers the chance to win a £200 St David’s gift card by sharing their pics online. It was a real striking spectacle and really had great interaction, from customers.
Our chief editor Brett Salway spoke to customers, at the #BigNightOut and they were delighted with what was on offer. There were a range of discounts offered by many of St David’s shopping centre’s retailers and were extremely appreciated by the shopper’s.
There was also a wide variety of ‘Treat Stations’ which were rewarding customers for their continued support. Including drinks brought you to by the swanky ‘Fly By Night’ wine bar along with the legendary underground nightclub Ten Mill Lane’ and the iconic and innovative ‘The Flora’. They also had on offer drinks at their own branded drinks stations, where the ‘Rum Punch was delicious!
As you can see in the photo above there was a ‘Tipping Point’ style game, which offered customers all sorts of prizes, like free parking and bags of sweet treats. It was so much fun!
Laguna Health & Spa were in attendance and kept customers highly motivated for the evening. They were promoting their current spa memberships and treatments, whilst giving away free goodie bags. We’ve visited the spa many times and have to say, it’s one of our favourite spa’s in Cardiff, It’s truly luxurious. Check out their latest membership packages and spa days, for a sensational experience.
Thousands flooded to this one-night-only event at St David’s shopping centre and for really involved in the celebrations, it was truly a fantastic night.
In total, over 100 brands took part, with discounts of up to 30% and exclusive offers. Brands signed up included All Saints, Calvin Klein Underwear, Disney, Foot Asylum, River Island and Vans.
Hywel Butcher, Marketing Manager at St David’s Cardiff, commented: “When we host our famous Student Night event – the biggest feedback is that our regular shoppers want their own night of exclusive discounts. So, they asked – and we listened!
“We want to thank everyone who came along to our Big Night Out. We’ve hosted some incredible events for our shoppers over the last ten years so hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!!”
Also present on the night were South wales’ hit radio station ‘Capital FM’ who were keeping the customers entertained, with incredible music tracks, throughout the night!
We had a chat with marketing team members Jennifer and Lloyd about their involvement in the #BigNightOut and they told me this……..
“We are delighted to be involved in this incredible event and have loved entertaining the people of South Wales and beyond this evening! We have been running a competition to win tickets to see the incredible “Rita Ora” at the MOTORPOINT ARENA on the 21st May 2019 and had great interaction. You’ll see us all over the South Wales area interacting with the public and spreading the Capital FM word“. An important charity fundraising team were also in attendance and are going to be climbing Mount Everest, to raise funds for the ‘Velindre Cancer Care Centre’ who tirelessly provide specialist cancer care services, to over 1.5 million people across South East Wales and beyond. I spoke with one of the fundraisers participants, called Perri Ball and this is what she had to say.
“We are a team of eight, including ultra athlete and presenter Lowri Morgan, we will make our way to Everest Base Camp on March 28th 2020 to raise money for Velindre Cancer Care. It involves a lot of specialist training and effort but I am very proud to be involved with such a wonderful fund raising event and would greatly appreciate any support the general public can give us”
